What’s New in Download Monitor 5.0.0
Fixed:
- The elusive double slash (//) path bug has been squashed. No more mysterious download errors caused by wayward punctuation!
Changed:
- File Browser now knows better than to wander into cross-site folders in multisite environments.
- Setting descriptions now appear in tooltips, freeing up the settings page.
- The Approved download paths functionality has been redesigned from the ground up. Try to get this wrong now—I double dare you!
- The Terms and Conditions extension is now a part of the core (LITE version) of Download Monitor.
Added:
- A new download “debug export” metabox for those needing troubleshooting.
- File type and location columns were added to the admin list table because who doesn’t love having a little extra data at their fingertips?
- REST API endpoints for creating, updating, and deleting downloads and versions. Now, you can automate like a pro.
- Two new integrations for the gated content family: WPForms and Contact Form 7.
- Download Monitor Pro: Plugin licensing and updates have been moved to this new, dedicated extension. We’ve worked hard to simplify our licensing system.
Removed:
- Twitter lock extension has been retired.

How to Update
If you do not have the automatic update option enabled, have no fear; updating to Download Monitor 5.0.0 is easier than binge-watching your favorite show:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Find Download Monitor in the list.
- Click on “Update Now” and let the magic happen.
